Blue Mountains - undeniably gorgeous!

This nice paragraph about the area around Pendleton was submitted to me by Shaindel Beers, Instructor of English at Blue Mountain Community College --From a WR 121 essay by Alanna Thompson-Poore. I certainly could not have said it better. (The photo is from our files)

Yet another unique aspect of this town is that it sits at the base of the Blue Mountains, undeniably gorgeous to anyone who sets eyes upon its gently rolling wheat fields in the summer, or unscathed blankets of snow covering the ground on cold winter days. The vast forests, trails, and country roads are an ideal playground for any outdoorsman, or woman, for that matter. Riding through the hills for an entire day and not seeing a single person is not an uncommon occurrence in the Blue Mountains. In fact, the only forms of life you will more than likely run into would be several deer, turkey, elk, ducks, pheasants, quail, an occasional bear, or even wild horses.
